Ref. CS. 17/2001 26 February 2001 To: The President The Stock Exchange of Thailand Re: Change of Operating Results BJC notifies Consolidated sales for the fourth quarter of 2000 were Baht 3,027 million, a 4% increase over the same period in 1999. For the full year, consolidated sales were Baht 11,497 million, an increase of 3% over 1999. For the fourth quarter, sales of Consumer Products, especially tissue paper, enjoyed a 26% growth between the comparative periods, and sales of Technical and Imaging Products registered a 24% improvement, led by the chemicals and medical product sectors. As anticipated, sales of Packaging products declined by 29% between the comparative periods due to significantly increased re-usage levels of glass containers by our major customers. Net income for the fourth quarter of 2000 was Baht 115.7 million, a 32% decrease from the same period in 1999 as margins were impacted by higher raw material costs and the weaker Baht. For the full year, net income was Baht 535.2 million, a 23% decrease when compared with 1999. On 13 October 2000, the Company paid an interim dividend of Baht 15.75 per share, equivalent to a total of Baht 2,501 million, in line with its previously stated objective of improving shareholder returns.
