(SDGs) Berli Jucker Public Company Limited (BJC) has diligently adhered to the principles of good governance, conducting business with honesty and transparency. Our steadfast commitment extends to fulfilling social and environmental responsibilities, aligning with the criteria outlined by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In 2023, Berli Jucker Public Company Limited (BJC) received support from UOB Bank, encompassing loans tied to sustainability operations (Sustainability-linked Loan) and derivatives for hedging financial risks (Sustainability-linked Derivatives). The total amount exceeded 7,200 million baht (200 million USD). Furthermore, for the fourth consecutive year, the Company secured its position in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) within the Emerging Markets group.

Moreover, for the second consecutive year, the Company has attained the highest global ranking, achieving a score of 92/100 by S&P Global within the Food & Staples Retailing industry. This remarkable achievement marks the highest score ever obtained since the inception of the ranking. It underscores the Company's steadfast dedication to meeting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) benchmarks in its business operations, aligning with the objective of becoming a net-zero greenhouse gas emitter (Net Zero) by 2050.

BJC conducts its business while concurrently driving economic growth and striving to enhance the quality of life for communities and society. Central to this effort is our commitment to addressing the challenges posed by climate change. This includes implementing measures to tackle climate change-induced problems (Adaptation), establishing metrics, and dedicating ourselves to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the Company's operations (Mitigation), and fostering environmentally friendly practices among stakeholders in a sustainable manner.

For instance, we have integrated solar energy by installing solar roofs in both our factories and retail outlets. Furthermore, we have prioritized enhancing energy efficiency through the adoption of various technologies aimed at reducing energy consumption in our production processes and operations. These include utilizing AI for energy consumption control, employing electric vehicles for transportation of goods, and emphasizing the importance of eco-friendly packaging and equipment utilized in product sales and service provision. As an illustration, at Big C, we have introduced shopping baskets made from plastic substitute materials, effectively reducing plastic waste.

In the fiscal year of 2023, BJC Big C Group was honored to receive the "Top 50 Companies in Thailand 2023" award, which recognizes the 50 organizations most sought after by the new generation for employment opportunities. This marks the Company's second consecutive year of receiving the award, achieving a higher rank within the Top 10 compared to the previous year.
