14th March 2001 The President The Stock Exchange of Thailand Bangkok Dear Sir, Re: Notice of No Payment of Year-end Dividend We refer to your question on 2000 year-end dividend payment and would comment as follows: The Board of Directors of Berli Jucker discussed the Company's dividend policy for the financial year 2000 at the Board meetings No. 32 and No. 33, on September 1st and 15th respectively. In light of our announcement of a Baht 15.75 per share interim dividend paid on 13th October 2000, which distributed substantially all the Company's retained earnings, the Board has not discussed the declaration of a further "final" dividend for 2000. The Board of Directors Meeting No. 36 to be held on 27th April 2001 is expected to recommend that no final dividend be paid in respect of the year 2000, and this proposal would be put to the Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders for approval on the same day. A return to the previous dividend policy of paying dividends approximately equal to 30% of net income is anticipated in the financial year 2001.
