Management Discussion and Analysis on the first quarter of 2009 Berli Jucker Public Company Limited would like to notify that the Company's sales forthe first quarter of 2009 was at Baht 5,575.5 million, 2.9 percent increase from the same period in 2008. The increase of sales was due to 7.2 percent sales increase in sales of Industrial Supply Chain, mainly attributed to glass packaging business as there was a furnace shutdown for repair and maintenance at Thai Glass Industries Public Company Limited in the first quarter of 2008. Sales of Thai-Scandic Steel Company Limited and Engineering Division also showed an improvement due to projects completion and submission in this quarter. However, sales of Thai Beverage Can Limited experienced a decline due to demand slowdown. Healthcare Supply Chain had a 6.1 percent increase in sales primarily from sales of medical imaging and medical equipment products. For Technical Supply Chain and Consumer Supply Chain, sales declined 14.3 percent and 2.0 percent respectively due to the impact of economic slowdown. The net income for the first quarter of 2009 was Baht 203.9 million, 23.6 percent decrease from the same period of 2008. The decrease of net income was mainly due to lower sales of Thai Beverage Can Limited, which resulted in lower capacity utilization, as well as a decline in sales of Technical Supply Chain as a result of economic slowdown. However, net profit of Consumer Supply Chain in this quarter increased by 18.3% from the same period of 2008. Please be informed accordingly.
