14 May 2009 The President The Stock Exchange of Thailand Bangkok Dear Sir, Re: Explanation of the decrease in operating results of the first quarter of 2009 over 20% from that of the same period of previous year Berli Jucker Public Company Limited would like to inform that the net profit of the Company and subsidiaries for the first quarter of 2009 was Baht 203.9 million, which decreased from the same period of the previous year by Baht 62.6 million or 23.6%,was mainly resulted from a decline in net profit of Thai Beverage Can Limited due to the demand slowdown of customers, which resulted in lower utilization rates and net profit was decreased from the first quarter of 2008 by Baht 60.8 million. Additionally, net profit of Technical Supply Chain was negatively affected by the economic slowdown, which resulted in a decline in sales of chemical specialty products.
