Explanation of the decrease in operating results of the second quarter of 2009 over 20 percent from that of the same period of previous year Berli Jucker Public Company Limited would like to notify that the Group's sales for the second quarter of 2009 were Baht 5,434.1 million, representing an increase of 1.9 percent from the same period of last year. Net profit after tax to equity holders of the Company and subsidiaries was Baht 272.1 million, decreasing by 33.0 percent from the second quarter of 2008. The decline in net profit was mainly due to lower net profit of subsidiaries in Industrial and Supply Chain, as a result of weakening sales from economic slowdown, higher costs of major raw materials, lower capacity utilization and higher product quality control cost in order to comply with the provisions of the Liability for Damages Arising from Unsafe Products Act B.E. 2551.
